by Social Media Manager (12 Jan 2013)

Pattaya is not just a city in Thailand; as a matter of fact you can see the whole of Thailand in Pattaya! If you don’t have time to visit everywhere in the Land of Smiles, a quick tour to Mini Siam would be a wise move. Mini Siam is a re-creation in miniature of many well-known Thai tourist attractions: Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Democracy Monument, River Kwai Bridge, Don Muang Airport and so on. Also on show are a few international ones as well, like the Statue of Liberty, Abu Simbel and Eiffel Tower.

  • Open daily 9:00-18:00
  • Baht 300 entry

Your next must see sight is Pattaya’s unique Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum located on the third floor of Royal Garden Plaza. The Museum features more than 300 exhibits spread throughout 10 different themed galleries. Additional attractions are Ripley’s Haunted Adventures, Infiniti Maze, Moving Theater 4D and Louise Tussaud’s Waxworks.

If you’re looking for a truly wondrous outdoor attraction, look no further than Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. Only 20 minutes south of the city, this amazing garden covers a staggering 500 acres and houses a topiary section, English garden, orchard house, Thai culture and dance show, mini petting zoo, sports car museum, elephant show, fishing ponds and more.

  • Open daily 8:00-18:00
  • Baht 400 entry

If you would like to get close and personal with Thailand’s eponymous pachyderms, e.g. the beloved elephant, the perfect place for you is the Pattaya Elephant Village. Part tourist attraction and part sanctuary for retired working elephants; here you can get acquainted with these huge, gentle and very intelligent beasts by way of a show, jungle trek, river rafting and more.

  • Open daily 9:00-18:00
  • Baht 650 (show), 1,000 (trekking), 2,000 (combo)

The Million Years Stone Park and Crocodile Farm features amazing trees over 100 million years old, award winning bonsai trees, Thai-style trees over 200 years old and unique shaped rocks. The Farm also houses Thailand’s largest collection of salt-water crocodiles and a zoo with different varieties of wild animals, like tigers, deer and beers.

For a more exhilarating and adventurous outdoor activity, Flight of the Gibbon cannot be missed. The largest canopy zip-line tour in the world, this wild 3km-long ride will have you screaming “yippeeeeeeee” in no time at all. A full day tour includes zip line, jungle trekking, riverside lunch and nature talk. A real must do for thrill seekers.

  • Open daily 8:00-14:00

For a more peaceful kind of sightseeing, Khao Chee Chan, also known as Buddha Mountain, is as serene as it gets. Located about 20 min outside of Pattaya, this majestic Buddha image is not a statue, but rather a cliff face inlaid with gold leaf in the outline (done with a laser) of a sitting, Sukhothai-era Buddha. It is 130 meters tall, 70 meters wide, and can be seen from miles away. Great spot for a picnic.

  • Open daily 8:00-17:00
  • Free entry

Now for something completely different and original. The Sanctuary of Truth (also called Wang Boran and Prasat Mai) is a 105 metre-high hand-carved wooden building of contemporary fantastic religious art that resembles a temple. It’s dramatically located on a rocky beachfront strip of land and is done in the style of ancient Khmer architecture like Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It must be seen to be believed!

  • Open daily 8:00-17:00
  • Baht 500 entry

Easy Kart Pattaya is conveniently located opposite Bali-Hai Pier and beside Walking Street. This attraction was recently voted one of the best by the Thailand Tourism Authority. Drivers can choose between the beginner, advanced and children’s track. For the standard price you get to zip around the 350m-long track as many times as you like in 8 minutes, driving a 160 cc kart that can reach top speeds of 40 kmh (at the end you get a nice print-out with your lap times as a memento).

  • Open daily 10:00 -01:00
  • Baht 420 for 8 minutes

And last, but not least. Night owls cannot miss the spectacular Tiffany Cabaret Show, where a team of professional transvestite entertainers nightly present songs accompanied by elaborate sets, costumes and dance moves. The lip-syncing repertoire of songs includes English, Thai, Indian (Bollywood), Russian, Korean and then some. Marilyn Monroe and Tina Turner lookalikes also making an appearance.

  • Daily at 18:00, 19:30 and 21:00
  • Baht 500 or 800 (VIP)

Enjoy!
