Meet the Sukosol Family

Every family has stories… and we're happy to share ours. These are the stories of the Sukosol family. Please read on to discover how we have evolved throughout the generations and what the future holds for Sukosol Hotels.

Kamala Sukosol

Backed only by her savvy intuition and dogged determination she was able to build a hotel empire that has been the mainstay of the Thai scene for the past thirty years.

As president of Sukosol Hotels, Kamala she has overseen the building and running of five award-winning hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya. In her down time she has raised four children, recorded a hit song and raised 30+ million Thai baht for charity. Personal highlights include been named by Forbes Asia as one of its '48 Heroes of Philanthropy' in 2009; awarded the Medal of Saint Nicholas the Wondermaker by the Russian government in 2010 and having the order of Isabella the Catholic bestowed on her by the King of Spain in 2012.

Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi

An artiste at heart, she has followed in her mother's illustrious footsteps and carved out a niche for herself as an accomplished and successful Thai hotelier.

Marisa, executive vice president of Sukosol Hotels, has more than 20 years of hospitality experience and leads the second generation of hotellering Sukosols. She is also an admired ambassador for numerous social and healthcare causes and an in-demand performer and public speaker who regularly participates in royal, political, charity and corporate events. In 2010 she even found time to release a best-selling book, Marisa...The Love Album, containing life stories about herself and her famous family.

Daranee Sukosol Clapp

With her background as a Wall Street banker she is well-placed to oversee the group's finances and steer it towards ever greater heights of success.

Daranee is undisputedly the Sukosol family's financial guru, who oversees all Sukosol Hotels’ financial matters, expansion plans and capital ventures. With a Masters of Business Administration from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and experience as a financial analyst on Wall Street, the group's finances have been in very safe hands since she took control. As vice president of finance she has led the re-structuring of the group's debt and assets and nowadays is responsible for overseeing all money-related matters.

Kamol ‘Sukie’ Sukosol Clapp

Following in his grandfather's footsteps, he is a true entrepreneur who first took on the world of big business at the tender age of 22 and is still doing it 'his way' today.

Sukie is a beloved local celebrity whose larger than life persona is synonymous with starting Thailand's most successful independent label, Bakery Music. He has also written an autobiography, Bakery & I, and since leaving the music industry produced a reality-cum-documentary television show called Dreamchaser. Nowadays Sukie he has also taken on a more active role in the burgeoning family business as director of projects, recently overseeing construction of group’s two newest properties: The Siam and Wave.

Krissada ‘Noi’ Sukosol Clapp

The family’s youngest son is a true artist, well known and loved in Thailand for his artistic flair both on and off screen. Nowadays he’s wowing crowds with his design aesthetic.

Noi is a famous rock singer and film actor. As lead vocalist of indie-rock band PRU he won MTV Asia’s award for Favourite Thai Artist in 2001 and scooped Thailand’s equivalent Oscar for Best Actor in 2006, for his lead role in the thriller 13. Of late he has also taken on the role of creative director, overseeing design at several of the group’s properties, mostly notably The Siam, Wave and The Sukosol. With a keen eye for detail and a voracious appetite for antique shopping, this is the perfect role for him in the family business.
